Madison, WI Beer Happenings: April
There is a new bar called the Robin Room at 821 E Johnson. They have only been open a month and although their main focus is on (very delicious) craft cocktails, they do a have a good tap list. They even had Zombie Dust earlier this week! It’s in the stretch between Salvatore’s and Forequarter, next to The Spot. Look for an unassuming door with RR on it.
Forequarter (one of my all-time favorite breweries Perennial Artisan Ales out of St Louis) will be doing a tap takeover here during Madison Craft beer week. At least that’s the word on the street, no mention of it on Forequarter’s or Perennial’s websites yet. They will be at a couple other places (Dexter’s and HopCat), but I just think this will be a great pairing.
Founders Brewing will be having a KBS release party at HopCat on April 4th at 6pm. If you’ve never had KBS, shame on you! KBS is a deliciously dangerous bourbon barrel aged imperial stout with a ton of coffee and chocolate flavors. If you like stuff bourbon barrel aged (and even if you don’t) or if you like their Breakfast stout, you have to have this beer. But be careful, it’s 12.4%!!
Keep your eye open for Rockhound Brewing to open at 444 S Park! They are finishing up a few last touches and should be open very shortly. I’ll try to post when they announce the official date.
My goal is to hit one beer fest every month (not always in Wisconsin) and I’m right on track.
For April I’m going to the Dells Rare Barrel Affair at Mt Olympus in the Dells on April 16th. Tickets are still available and $50 in advance, $60 at the door, and $25 for a DD. I’m actually really excited about this one, because I’ve tried A LOT of beer. So to go to a fest that is specializing in rare or never released beer should amount to a very interesting day! There will be food and live music as well.
