Madison, WI On Demand Fishing Report

The panfish bite is hot in shallow bays and the backs of creeks and channels. Some popular areas include the channel off of Squaw Bay, right across from Winnequaw park. There is a parking lot right next to the channel holding fish. It fills up quickly, but overflow parking is available on the street.

Madison, WI fishing report

Live bait (minnows and worms) are producing the most fish. If you prefer to use artificial baits, crappie tubes (black/white, blue/white) and gulp baits are producing fish as well. Use a 1/16oz or 1/32 oz weight jig head to start, and then change up or down if the fish aren't responding.

Don't forget to try both casting and reeling, or slow rolling your bait back to you. Also try using a slip bobber.

If you have your boat in the water already I would start venturing into the backs of bays looking for the warmest water and weed growth.

Opening day is right around the corner. Check back right here for updated, On Demand fishing reports.
